FORT CARSON, Colo.—Military officials say a Fort Carson soldier has died in an auto accident near Stuttgart, Germany.
Military officials said Tuesday that 29-year-old Sgt. 1st Class Matthew A. Harvey, of Houston, Texas, was a senior engineer sergeant with the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) based at Fort Carson.
Lt. Col. Steve Osterholzer tells The Gazette ( ) two other soldiers with the 10th Special Forces Group were injured in the crash Sunday. He says Harvey was in Germany on official business but wasn’t working when the vehicle crashed. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
Harvey joined the Army in 2001 and joined the 10th Special Forces Group in 2009. He was deployed to Iraq twice and once to Nicaragua.
He is survived by a wife and son.
