The Colorado Charter School Instititute board named Ethan Hemming its new executive director, erasing the interim status from his title.
Hemming won the spot after a search that included more than 90 candidates.
“Ethan’s years of experience in working with charter schools and school choice issues will be extremely valuable in managing the institute,” said board chairman Wayne Eckerling in a prepared statement. “He understands the unique nature of the institute’s mission, to provide support for a growing and diverse portfolio of charter schools and to also hold those schools accountable for delivering what every student, parent and taxpayer expects—a quality education.”
Hemming joined CSI early last year as deputy executive director. He had held a similar position with Denver Public Schools’ Office of School Reform and Innovation since 2007. He earned a master’s degree from Colorado State University and a bachelor’s degree from Colorado College.
