Douglas County-based CH2M Hill, an international engineering firm, was selected as the program manager for construction of stadiums and support facilities for the 2022 soccer World Cup in Qatar.
CH2M Hill will oversee contracts to build nine new stadiums and renovate three stadiums, as well as for transportation, cooling systems and other infrastructure projects.
“Our work with CH2M HILL in planning (and) delivering a successful World Cup will require cooperation with and assistance from local stakeholders and partners,” Qatar 2022 Supreme Committee secretary general Hassan Al Thawadi said in a statement. “The road ahead will be challenging. Today’s appointment is a key initial milestone on our journey.”
CH2M Hill recently completed a similar role as program manager for the London Olympic Games set for this summer.
