Hey, Governor John Hickenlooper, clear all appointments June 29-30. Your favorite band is coming back.

will play June 29 and 30, the band announced this morning via its Facebook page. Canadian folk-pop group City and Colour will open the first show; Denver locals DeVotchKa will provide support for the second.

The Avett Brothers last played Colorado in July 2011 — an intimate show at the Boulder Theater () followed by their first headlining gig at Red Rocks the next night (). Governor John Hickenlooper introduced the band to a crowd of 9,500 in Morrison, calling them “one of the best rock and roll bands on earth.”

Tickets go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18 through Ticketmaster, promoter AEG confirmed this afternoon.
