COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Colorado Springs is investigating how money donated to keep the United States Olympic Committee was spent.
Mayor Steve Bach announced the investigation by the city attorney’s office on Thursday.
The Gazette () reports that a developer involved in an initial deal to keep the USOC from moving its headquarters is accused of theft and racketeering.
In 2008, El Pomar Foundation gave the city $2 million to renovate some buildings to help convince the USOC to stay.
The buildings are used by some national governing bodies and as temporary office space but the USOC’s headquarters are in another renovated building.
