CASPER, Wyo.—Casper will field a Mountain Collegiate Baseball League team this summer.
The Casper City Council agreed Tuesday to fund equipment for a team that will play on Mike Lansing Field this summer.
The minor league Casper Ghosts left Casper for Grand Junction, Colo., after the 2011 season.
The Mountain Collegiate Baseball League brings college players from around the country who compete with wood bats during the summer in Wyoming and Colorado.
The league has privately owned teams in Cheyenne, Laramie and Fort Collins, Colo.
Casper City Manager John Patterson tells the Casper Star-Tribune ( ) that the city is still pursuing a professional minor league team to replace the Ghosts. But that wouldn’t happen until 2013 at the earliest.
