LONGMONT – — One of the largest buildings on north Main Street is coming to life once again, as Save-A-Lot opens its new store at 1750 Main, which has sat vacant since SmartCo Foods closed its doors in the fall of 2010 after just four months in business.

Save-A-Lot, which opens today, will take about 15,000 square feet of the 58,000-square-foot building, which used to house an Albertsons, and the remainder will be occupied this spring by a Goodwill store.

The Longmont store is owned by Leevers Supermarkets, which owns 13 grocery stores in Colorado, 11 of which are Save-A-Lots.
