The fifth-ranked University of Denver men’s lacrosse team will open the 2012 season against Ohio State in the Moe’s Southwest Grill Classic in Jacksonville, Fla., Sunday at noon. The game will be aired live on NBC Sports Network.
Pioneers coach Bill Tierney will be looking for his 300th career win. He would join David Urick (338) and Dom Starsia (329) as the only coaches in the history of Division I lacrosse to have amassed 300 or more wins.
AFA baseball drops first two games. Air Force baseball fell to Alcorn State 7-5 in its season opener, then lost to LSU 10-2 in a doubleheader Friday in Baton Rouge, La.
In the first game, the Braves scored seven unanswered runs after being down 5-0 to rally for the win.
LSU had a five-run first inning, followed by a four-run second against the Falcons in the nightcap.
UNC softball continues strong start. The Northern Colorado softball team defeated Central Arkansas 1-0 and Bryant 15-2 in a five-inning blowout in the Lobo Classic in Albuquerque. The Bears improved to a school-record start of 7-1.
The Bears continue play in Albuquerque with games today against Purdue and tournament host New Mexico.
