BOULDER — Since 1942, the Pledge of Allegiance has been the official expression of patriotic loyalty in the United States.
And while no longtime city officials can recall the last time the Boulder City Council recited the Pledge — or why it currently does not — at least one councilman says it might be time to change that.
“I think it’s something that fell between the cracks,” Councilman George Karakehian said. “It would be an honor for me to say the Pledge of Allegiance.”
The stage is certainly set: American and Colorado flags flank the Boulder city logo behind the council’s arched desk.
But not all of the leaders agree that the Pledge has a place at the council’s meetings.
