Up north, Carter, Horsetooth, Lon Hagler, Wellington, St. Vrain State Park and Flatiron are open, with decent trout action on a variety of baits and lures. Chatfield, Aurora and Bear Creek are still available for ice fishing. South Park waters are slow. Good action can be had at North Park’s Lake John, North Michigan and Red Feather Lakes. Small, bright ice jigs tipped with some sort of “worm” are producing. Nymphing with midges on the Arkansas River in Pueblo is resulting in a few nice rainbows. Fly-fishing carp anglers using crayfish patterns on the metro sections of the South Platte are landing a few.
