A public groundbreaking ceremony for the Weld County Fallen Officer Memorial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Bittersweet Park, 35th Avenue and 16th Street, Greeley.
The Weld County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with fallen deputy Sam Brownlee’s family and Greeley City Councilman Rob Casseday, began work on the memorial in January 2011. As the process developed, the city of Greeley became a partner in the project, and a host site for the memorial was provided in Bittersweet Park.
