Denver police are looking for a man assumed to be homeless who slashed a restaurant valet in the back on the 16th Street Mall at Arapahoe Street tonight.

The manager of Prime restaurant, Brian Hein, told 9News the valet was returning a car to a customer when the attacker tried to steal the vehicle. Hein said the valet, whose name was not released, had 165 stitches at Denver Health Medical Center, but is expected to be OK.

Detective John White said the attacker appeared to be in his 40s. He was white, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 150 to 160 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans, a brown coat and a sweater.

He was also carrying a plastic bag with towels , White said.
