A man accused in a crash that injured a Denver police officer has been formally charged with one count of vehicular assault.
The charge alleges 22-year-old Nicholas Herrera was driving drunk around 1:15 a.m. Monday when he crashed into a patrol car, pinning an officer between the patrol car and a vehicle she had pulled over for a traffic stop.
Herrera is free after posting a $50,000 bond. He is due in court March 13.
He did not immediately return an email from the Associated Press seeking comment Wednesday.
