DENVER—An Adams County prosecutor says there’s not enough evidence to file charges against a former Regional Transportation District board member accused of misusing union funds for his campaign for the Denver-area board.
An assistant to Kenneth Riley had said Riley diverted money from his union chapter of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees to his campaign, used union employees to work on his campaign on evenings and weekends, and spent union money on campaign postage.
The Denver Post reports ( ) District Attorney Don Quick said Tuesday he found that employees of Riley’s union had worked for several campaigns, not just his. He concluded Riley’s campaign had paid for its own campaign materials and that the alleged misappropriation of postage stamps couldn’t be proven.
