The Colorado Mines men’s basketball team remained No. 1 in the NCAA Division II Central Region rankings Wednesday. The Metro State men stayed at No. 3.

It is the second straight week the Orediggers have been on top of the rankings after occupying the No. 2 spot two weeks ago in the first rankings of the season.

The top eight teams in the 28-team region will advance to the NCAA regional tournament March 10-13.

DU’s Murdoch, Smith honored. University of Denver senior forward Kaetlyn Murdoch was named to the all-Sun Belt Conference first team, and teammate Emiko Smith was named to the second team.

Murdoch led the Pioneers in scoring (16.4 points) and field-goal accuracy (53.4 percent) during the regular season. She ranked fourth in scoring in the conference and 19th in the nation in field-goal percentage, and also sits atop the career blocked shots list (278) in DU history and is third in career points (1,789).

Smith led the conference in assists (6.5) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.6).

Ski team among Wyoming Hall inductees. The University of Wyoming Intercollegiate Athletics Hall of Fame has announced its class of 2012.

Inductees are Dick Campbell (football, 1948-50), Leonard “Len” Kuczewski (football, 1957-59), Jordan Lintz (women’s golf, 1997-2000), Chris Lull (volleyball, 1985-87), Selmer Pederson (football, 1949-51), Ray Sanchez (wrestling, 1967-68) and the 1985 national champion men’s and women’s ski team.

The induction ceremony will be Sept. 14 at the school’s Conference Center and Hilton Inn Ballroom in Laramie.
