COLORADO SPRINGS — Time has never ticked so slowly for Taylor Torres.
Palmer’s sensational senior was alone with her thoughts as she went to the line with 3.9 seconds remaining and sank two free throws to cap an improbable 10-point run that closed the Terrors’ 58-57 victory over Horizon in the 5A girls’ round of 16.
Torres reflected of a lifetime’s worth of basketball games, her teammates, the tension in the building and all the excitement.
And the whole time she prayed that the shots would fall.
“It seemed like it was four years, I’m not kidding,” said Torres, a starter since her freshman year.
