FEDERAL HEIGHTS, Colo.—Police in Federal Heights shot and wounded a man who they say hit one officer and dragged another with his truck.

Police Lt. Gary Toldness told The Denver Post ( ) that one officer was treated for injuries and released. The second officer was treated at the scene of Monday’s early morning incident. Their names were not released.

Toldness said the suspect was hospitalized. His name has been withheld.

Police were summoned to a Federal Heights mobile home after a man in a pickup truck allegedly followed a woman there after she passed him in traffic.

Two officers approached the truck, Toldness said. The driver struck one officer and rammed the mobile home, where the woman, her husband and their three children were huddled inside, KMGH-TV reported ( ).

The second officer had opened the truck’s passenger door when the driver again hit the gas, dragging the officer against the pavement. Toldness said the officer freed himself and shot the suspect several times as he tried to drive off.

The truck struck another pickup across the street and damaged several fences on surrounding property.

Sergio Anaya, the woman’s husband, said his wife didn’t know the man.

KMGH-TV reports the Adams County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation.
