BOULDER — – Boulder County should maintain the six-month moratorium it adopted on Feb 2 to suspend accepting and processing applications for drilling oil and gas wells in unincorporated areas, county commissioners decided Thursday night.
That moratorium probably will need to be extended beyond its current Aug. 2 expiration date, commissioners suggested after a Thursday night meeting with county staffers that included a three-hour-long public hearing.
Six months “doesn’t seem like nearly enough time,” said Commissioner Deb Gardner, for the county staff to research the legal and regulatory issues being raised about whether Boulder County can tighten its oversight of oil and gas drilling, and how much. Read more at:
