GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—The Glenwood Springs City Council is supporting a proposal to allow backyard chicken coops in Glenwood Springs, but people with roosters need not apply.

The council has asked staff to draft an ordinance spelling out rules and regulations for chickens to be kept in residential neighborhoods.

According to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent (), the chicken ordinance will have to go through the city Planning and Zoning Commission for a recommendation.

Under the proposal, no more than six hens would be allowed and owners must control odors.
