Avalanche forward Matt Duchene, who injured his right ankle in Tuesday’s 7-1 victory over the visiting Minnesota Wild, did not participate in this morning’s full-squad practice and will not play in Thursday’s game at Nashville against the Predators.
“He’ll be re-evaluated today (and) I’ll know more tonight or (Thursday),” Avs coach Joe Sacco said.
Rookie Mike Connolly will replace Duchene and play in his second career NHL game against the Predators. Connolly, an undrafted free agent who signed with the San Jose in April after his junior year at Minnesota-Duluth, was obtained in last week’s multi-player trade with the Sharks.
Sacco said Semyon Varlamov, who has allowed only one goal in his past two starts, will start at Nashville.
