Tailgate party. Celebrate the end of ski season and beginning of whitewater season with the sixth annual Parking Lot Cook-off and Tailgate Party in Monarch on April 15. Spyder Grind. The 10th annual Spyder Grind competition will take place April 21 at Arapahoe Basin. This uphill/downhill race begins on foot, with competitors running to clip into their skis, then skiing uphill on a tough course and racing down to finish. Women’s half-marathon. Moab Half Marathon Inc. will host an all-women’s half-marathon May 12 in Moab. Utah. The race, inspired by the movie “Thelma & Louise,” runs through Canyonlands National Park, a few miles from where the final scenes of the film were shot.
