VERNAL, Utah—Charges have been filed against a 66-year-old Vernal man who shot at a Uintah County deputy before leading authorities on a two-day manhunt.
Dallas A. Rowley has been charged with felony attempted murder and felony failing to respond to an officer’s signal. He’s set to appear in Vernal’s 8th District Court on Tuesday. It’s not clear whether he has an attorney.
Rowley was arrested Saturday in Asphalt Wash near the White River, about 30 miles south of Vernal.
He was stopped by a deputy Thursday night about 10 miles south of Vernal. The deputy reported he smelled alcohol, and asked the man to exit his vehicle.
Rowley is accused is driving off and firing multiple shots from a .223-caliber rifle. The deputy escaped unharmed, though bullets hit his patrol vehicle.
