Ska-punk shows are always a great reason to put on a throwback concert T-shirt, drink copious amounts of cheap beer and reminisce about the ’90s. The music is loud, the crowd is sweaty and everyone walks around with a sense of urgency to reach either the stage or the bar — it’s not for everyone. For those who can hang, however, there is nothing like a good punk show, like Friday night’s at with , Teenage Bottle Rocket, the Gamits and Tin Horn Prayer.

Friday’s show definitely falls into the throwback category, celebrating the 20th Anniversary of Less Than Jake. The Gainseville, Fla. band released its latest EP “Seasons Greetings” last month, but in a fitting nod to its anniversary pulled the majority of the set from older albums including “Happyman” and “Jen Doesn’t Like Me Anymore” from “Losing Streak” (1996) and “The Science of Selling Yourself Short” off 2003’s “Anthem” — to name a few.

The show was fun, energetic and the veterans proved that they can still bring it. Despite some sound issues that made it nearly impossible to understand their vocals (unless you were dangerously close to the stage) Less Than Jake threw themselves a true punk-rock anniversary party. The set was peppered with jokes about Tim Tebow and the legalization of marijuana, as well as a ska rendition of the “SpongeBob SquarePants” theme that drove home the playful nature of the band and the night in general.
