DENVER—Colorado lawmakers are considering a proposal to protect ballots from inspection before and after an election so clerks can concentrate on election duties.

County Clerks Association director Donetta Davidson says the November election could be close and election duties come first.

According to the Denver Post ( ), anyone filing an open-records request to inspect ballots would not be able to do so 45 days prior to an election or 17 days after the election.

The Senate State Veterans & Military Affairs Committee approved the measure Wednesday.
