COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Frontier Airlines is seeking federal approval to fly between Colorado Springs Airport and Reagan National Airport in Washington, starting in late summer.
The Gazette reports ( ) the proposed flights would start and end in San Diego.
Frontier and other airlines are competing for a limited number of slots opening up at Reagan National Airport. A decision on who gets them is expected in mid-May.
Colorado Springs aviation director Mark Earle says Frontier has a strong application because the U.S. Air Force Academy, Fort Carson and several major military commands are all in the Springs area.
