BRIGHTON, Colo.—A suburban Denver man accused of setting his home on fire with his two children inside after assaulting his estranged wife has been formally charged with attempted murder.
Seventeenth Judicial District Attorney Don Quick said Friday that 27-year-old William Johnson of Northglenn is charged with four counts of attempted first-degree murder, two counts of child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury, one count of first-degree arson, two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals, third-degree assault and criminal mischief.
Johnson remains hospitalized with injuries from the fire.
Documents in the case have been sealed by court order.
A divorce between Johnson and his wife had been scheduled for completion in April.
