LONGMONT, Colo.—Two small planes have crashed near Longmont and there doesn’t appear to be any survivors from at least one of the crashes.

The crashes were about six miles apart and it wasn’t immediately clear if they were related. One plane crashed near a small airport outside the city and the other went down near a Wal-Mart near a major intersection.

Authorities said the plane that crashed near Wal-Mart was so badly damaged they couldn’t tell what kind of plane it was. The deputy chief of the Mountain View Fire District, Steve Pischke, said there was likely no chance of survival for anyone on board.

A witness who said he saw that plane before it crashed told KUSA-TV that it was missing a wing and appeared to be a Cessna Skyhawk 172.
