Goalkeeper Ashley Harman made 11 saves to highlight the University of Denver women’s lacrosse team’s 8-5 win over Hofstra in a neutral-site game in Berkeley, Calif., on Friday.
Jenn Etzel led the Pioneers’ (5-1) offense with a hat trick and and an assist, and Gretchen Nace scored twice and had one helper.
Falcons top UNLV. First baseman Seth Kline’s two-run triple keyed a four-run fifth inning that rallied Air Force into the lead, and the Falcons (5-14, 1-0 Mountain West) went on to a 10-7 win over UNLV (10-12, 0-4) at Falcon Field. Kline went 3-for-5 with four RBIs, and center fielder Alex Bast tripled and drove in two runs.
• Right fielder Adrian Schenk went 3-for-3 with two triples, but three Northern Colorado pitchers gave up at least two runs each in South Dakota State’s (5-10-1) 10-5 win over the Bears (6-10) in Greeley.
• Kacie McCarthy (9-5) pitched a complete game two-hitter to lead the Colorado State softball team (14-17) to a 1-0 win over Brown in Riverside, Calif. Center fielder Emily Pohl’s home run accounted for the run.
In the Rams’ second game, Kailey Snyder (4-0) pitched a 10-inning complete game in a 3-2 win over Santa Clara. Pohl’s two-run single in the fifth tied the game, and Shae Rodriguez won it in the 10th with an RBI single.
