Tech For Less laid off 87 employees Thursday as its corporate parent announced plans to move most of the Colorado Springs-based company’s operations to Bloomington, Ind., and its customer service to Orem, Utah.

The company closed its outlet store Thursday and will complete the rest of the move in the next few weeks, said Farrah Phillipo, a spokeswoman for ModusLink Global Solutions, which acquired Tech For Less in 2009. The company will leave space it has been leasing at 1610 Garden of the Gods Road, but will maintain an office in the Springs with 21 information technology and consumer marketing support employees.
