A Colorado Springs man faces felony attempted homicide charges today after police say he shot two people during a Saturday night fight outside a 7-Eleven store.

Bryan Batts, 25, remains in custody.

A fight broke out between two groups of people around 8:30 p.m., according to Colorado Springs Police Lt. Robert Ryan.

Witnesses reported hearing a half dozen shots fired, one of which left a bullet hole in the front door of the convenience store at Fountain Boulevard and Chelton Road.

Two victims — one shot in the shoulder and another shot in the chin — were dropped off at Memorial Hospital. Neither injury is considered life threatening, Ryan said.

There’s no information yet on what caused the fight.

According to information compiled by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Batts — who sometimes goes by the nickname “Ghost” — has several charges on his record related to a December 2010 conviction for driving under the influence.

In that case, Batts received jail time and two years probation .

Batts also pleaded guilty in November 2009 to misdemeanor reckless use of a weapon, a conviction that was dismissed after a successful stint on probation. In that case, a misdemeanor charge of using a gun while drunk was dismissed, court records show.
