NEW YORK — A very tiny puppy named Beyonce and her unlikely story of survival has captured the hearts of animal lovers around the world. The 3-week-old dachshund mix is no bigger than an iPhone. At birth, she could fit into a spoon.
Beyonce was born March 8 to a rescue dog that was found wandering the streets of San Bernardino, Calif. Her caretakers say she’s one of the smallest puppies ever born full-term.
Her caretaker, Beth Decaprio, says Beyonce wasn’t breathing at birth. The puppy was revived after chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth breathing.
Decaprio said she hopes the little canine will inspire people to adopt shelter dogs and save them from euthanasia. The Associated Press
