MONARCH, Colo.—Monarch Mountain is ending its ski season one week early due to warm temperatures.

The ski resort said Thursday that a lack of spring snow, high temperatures and forecasts of more warm days ahead are prompting it to move closing day up to April 8.

Monarch says this winter has been its sixth-driest season in more than 70 years.

Colorado has had a particularly dry March. The statewide snowpack is 60 percent of average.
