BOULDER, Colo.—Boulder is abandoning a pilot plan to install bear-resistant trash bins in 33 homes because it’s too expensive.

Instead, the city will spend $10,000 to educate residents on the dangers posed by bears.

According to the Boulder Daily Camera ( ), people will go door-to-door asking residents to take a pledge to secure their trash to prevent bears from rummaging through it.
