GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo.—U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet got an earful from both sides at a meeting on natural gas development in central Colorado.
Bennet said Monday that people should be patient while negotiations are under way between gas companies and the Thompson Divide Coalition, which has offered to buy out existing gas leases.
Industry officials say the offer falls far short of covering their overall investments in their leases and the lease values.
According to the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel (), several speakers Monday voiced concern about the potential impacts of oil and gas development in watersheds.
Brad Robinson, president of Gunnison Energy, defended his company’s environmental efforts, saying his company spends a lot of time protecting the air and water.
