A man suspected in a shooting was taken into custody this morning in Jefferson County.

The suspected was stopped at about 10:20 a.m. along the U.S. Highway 285 corridor in the foothills west of Denver, said Trooper Jason Lewis, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman.

Lewis said a man walked into Children’s Hospital this morning in Aurora and told staff that he had shot a neighbor. The man fled the hospital but witnesses were able to get a description of his car.

The suspect car was spotted heading southbound on Highway 285 near Turkey Creek and deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and troopers with the Colorado State Patrol stopped it and took a suspect into custody without further incident, Lewis said.

This story will be updated as more information is released.
