FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Police are investigating an assault near Colorado State University that left four people injured, two of them seriously.

The Coloradoan ( ) reported that all four of those assaulted late Friday night were CSU freshmen. They told the newspaper they were attacked by fellow students and university football players but police spokeswoman Rita Davis said Monday that she couldn’t discuss potential suspects.

Police said that seven males riding in a white sport utility vehicle confronted the victims as they were walking. Five of them allegedly got out and assaulted the four victims.

Police believe the assault happened soon after a large party in the area was broken up and say other people leaving the party may have witnessed what happened.
