The Metro Denver Economic Development Corp. announced today that Scott Prestidge is the organization’s new energy industry manager.

Prestidge, who begins work today, will be charged with managing the Colorado Energy Coalition and developing and executing “the vision, strategy and goals” for the coalition in coordination with the Metro Denver Economic Development’s co-chairs.

Metro Denver EDC said Prestidge will also maintain and develop relationships with key energy and economic development partners and support economic development activities “as needed.”

Prestidge comes to the Metro Denver EDC as a 2009 graduate of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s Energy Execs Leadership Program. There he studied topics such as solar, wind, biofuels, biomass, transmission, grid parity, financing and regional dynamics.

Additionally, Prestidge held various contract positions for the Colorado Harvesting Energy Network, providing support for the organization, which promotes community-based renewable energy development in Colorado.

“With his strong background in public policy and energy issues, we are pleased to welcome Scott as he fills this key position in our economic development team,” said Tom Clark , chief executive of the Metro Denver EDC. “Scott’s experience will be crucial as the Metro Denver EDC expands its focus on energy as a key industry cluster and as we continue to promote Colorado’s position as a leader in the balanced energy economy.”

Prestidge most recently served as the metro regional director for U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, where he managed outreach to the Metro Denver region.

From 2003 to 2008 , Prestidge also worked for Udall during his term in Congress.
