Incumbent Adams County Commissioner Alice Nichol will not be on the Democratic primary ballot in June.

Karen Long, Adams County Clerk and Recorder, confirmed today that Nichol had not gone through the process of petitioning and collecting signatures in order to get on the ballot after .

Nichol, who is finishing her second term as commissioner, has been caught up in allegations about her relationship with Seven people have been charged criminally in a scandal in which taxpayers were allegedly billed for work that was never done.

So far, two people have pleaded guilty, two have been convicted by juries, one has been acquitted, and two trials are pending.

Adams County District Attorney Don Quick opened an investigation into Nichol’s involvement with the company after The Denver Post discovered that Quality Paving had done work at her home. That investigation was subsequently turned it over to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s office.

Charles “Chaz” Tedesco, a local union president, is the sole Democratic candidate appearing on the ballot for Nichol’s District 2 seat.

Also running for the seat are Republicans Donnia Howell and Neal Mancuso and American Constitution party member James Fariello.

Adams County District 1 Commissioner W.R. “Skip” Fischer also has decided not run for re-election.

Running for his seat are Democrats Kenneth Ciancio and Eva Henry as well as Republicans Kaarl Hoopes and Gary Mikes.
