VAIL, Colo.—The Eagle River Fire Protection District is warning residents it is limiting protection because of budget cuts.
Three times this month, the district has only had enough people to keep three of five stations open.
According to the Vail Daily ( ), voters rejected a property tax increase and declines in property values are forcing reductions.
Officials say the district is filling budget holes with reserve funds, but that money will run out at the end of 2015 without even more severe budget cuts.
