Highlands Ranch had a reputation as a place very popular with residents long before this spring, when the Denver area’s real estate market took a sharp, upward swing. Now Cardel Homes, which last fall opened a first phase of luxury condos walking distance from restaurants in Highlands Ranch’s Town Center, has just a handful left, including a few with deck-views of mountains southwest of town.

“These are all people who are drawn to Highlands Ranch,” said Lisa Arteseros, who along with Lynette Ikenouye will show you furnished models. Those buyers include couples who love the master-planned community’s recreation but are tired of mowing lawns; others moving to be close to Highlands Ranch kids and grandkids; and some that grew up here, now have jobs along 470 or I-25, and want to come home.

This blend of new-urban taverns and shops, together with Highlands Ranch’s master plan has proved so popular that this weekend Cardel opens units in a second Clocktower building, just as close to Town Center (four buyers from an interest list already signed on). Arteseros and Ikenouye will also show you popular townhomes in Town Center’s orbit, all fast sellers – 20 sold since Jan. 1 from $249,900.

Anyone who wants to be in that first Clocktower building needs to see the models now (the lowest is $161,500). You’ll tour a 2-bedroom, 2-bath ‘Pendulum’ – just like one that’ll be ready for move-in next month, with extended hardwood floor, stainless appliances, granite tops and tile backsplash; plus high ceilings, 42-inch maple cabinets; elevator served with underground parking. It’s priced at $193,645.

You can also walk over to see Lansdowne Arms Bistro, Old Blinking Light, Tattered Cover, Egg & I, grocery shopping, library, Civic Green Park/Amphitheater and other attractions. “This part of Highlands Ranch is convenient to everyplace,” Arteseros adds, noting that there’s an RTD park-n-ride with quick service to Light Rail, and from there into downtown. From 470, take Broadway south a mile to Highlands Ranch Parkway, west past the Safeway to Ridgeline, then south to Dorchester.
