Police shot a man with a Taser on Wednesday night after he held his wife and son hostage at knifepoint in the 900 block of Bryant Street.
Cmdr. Patrick Phelan with the Denver Police Department’s Special Operations Division told 9News that the man threatened to kill his family and police in the incident, which began about 7 p.m.
During negotiations, Phelan said, police heard the mother say “He’s choking my son, he’s choking my son.”
As police immediately began a “crisis entry, ” they heard a child’s voice coming from the back bedroom and then heard a woman say, “He has a knife.”
Police said officers then went into the bedroom and shot the man with the Taser before taking him into custody.
