CENTENNIAL, Colo.—A suburban Denver student is under arrest for allegedly threatening to bomb a middle school.
The Arapahoe County sheriff’s office said Thursday that investigators found “evidence to support the credibility of the bomb threat” at the student’s home.
The office said staffers at Newton Middle School in Centennial notified a deputy assigned to the school on Wednesday about a bomb threat made by the student. Based on interviews with the student, investigators and bomb squad technicians searched the student’s home and found the evidence, which they didn’t describe.
The student was arrested and taken to a juvenile facility.
The news comes a day before the 13th anniversary of the shootings at Columbine High School, which is about 7 miles away. It wasn’t immediately clear if there was any connection.
