GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The Mesa County District Attorney’s Office says it will release new details Monday of a 1990’s cold case murder.
According to KCNC-TV ( ), authorities identified another suspect after a man who served nearly 16 years in prison for the 1994 rape and murder of a Palisade woman was exonerated by new testing of DNA evidence.
Authorities say 51-year-old Robert Dewey is scheduled to appear in court Monday before a judge who will decide whether he will be released after DNA identified another man. Mesa County District Attorney Pete Hautzinger has declined to comment on the case.
Dewey was sentenced in 1996 to life in prison without parole after he was convicted of killing Jacie Taylor. Taylor was found dead in the bathtub of her apartment on June 4, 1994.
