FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A former juror who helped convict Douglas Thames Jr. in 1996 of murdering a Fort Collins woman says she is glad she helped put him in prison after she learned he has been charged with raping and killing another woman.
Candace Hagel says she was surprised when authorities issued an arrest warrant for Thames on charges of murder and sexual assault in the 1994 rape and murder of Jacie Taylor of Palisade. On Monday, Robert Dewey was freed after new DNA testing pointed to someone else as the suspect.
According to the Fort Collins Coloradoan ( ), Thames was 16 years old when Susan Doll was sexually assaulted and murdered in 1989.
