FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Colorado State University’s governing board has approved a 9 percent increase for in-state undergraduate tuition.

The Coloradoan reports ( ) that under a budget that the board approved Wednesday, in-state undergraduates will pay $6,875 in tuition for the next academic year. Non-residents will pay $22,667.

The budget also includes raises for thousands of professors, instructors and support staff working in Fort Collins for the first time in four years. Staff and faculty have had their pay frozen the past four years in light of state budget cuts.

The raises will average about 3 percent but will be merit-based.

The university has about 5,900 professors, instructors, administrative professionals and other support staff.
