GLENWOOD SPRINGS – —Highway construction crews have finished the concrete reconstruction of the westbound lanes through Glenwood Canyon 10 days ahead of schedule, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT).
Both westbound lanes were to reopen Thursday afternoon, though the eastbound lanes were expected to remain “restricted to one-lane traffic” through today to enable crews to finish the lane markings.
In addition, according to CDOT spokeswoman Nancy Shanks, there will be partial westbound lane closures on May 7 to test the new concrete surface for smoothness.
The $3 million project has been underway since March 26 by Interstate Highway Construction Inc. of Englewood.
