COLORADO SPRINGS — Firefighters battled flames that raced through several apartments at a large complex on the 2800 block of Airport Road Saturday night.

The Colorado Springs Fire Department called the blaze a three-alarm fire. It belched thick brown smoke that could be seen for miles as the sun set. Firefighters said nobody was injured in the blaze, but residents of 14 apartments were displaced.

Firefighters were called to the apartments just before 7:30 p.m. and arrived to find smoke billowing from a building. The fire was knocked down by 8:30 p.m. and crews were dousing hot spots.
