Spotlight on Blas Perez: A newcomer to FCD this season, the 6-foot-1 Panamanian striker has been involved in nine of FCD’s 10 goals, scoring three, assisting on three and drawing fouls for three free kicks, which led to goals by teammates. In the 2010-11 season, he scored 19 goals in 23 starts for Leon of the Mexican second division, and he has played well for Panama in CONCACAF Gold Cup competitions. He was suspended for one game and fined last month for elbowing Vancouver’s Jordan Harvey.

Rapids: The Rapids have lost four of their last five, three of those coming on the road, and are playing their second of three consecutive road games. After this game, they don’t play again until May 16, when they travel to D.C. United. … Defender Marvell Wynne will be out for four to six weeks after straining his right quadriceps during training Tuesday, just before the match at New England. Tyrone Marshall took his place in the center of the back line.
FC Dallas: Goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, one of the best in league history, missed the past three games with back spasms but is listed as probable on the injury list this week. Chris Seitz played well in his absence, allowing only one goal in each of the games he started, a loss and two ties. … Former Rapids defender Ugo Ihemelu, who went to FCD in the 2009 trade that brought Drew Moor to the Rapids, was named FCD’s captain this season. …. Former Rapids coach Fernando Clavijo was named FCD’s technical director this season.
