DENVER—A Denver police officer who said his girlfriend attacked him with a Justin Bieber doll during a fight has been sentenced to a year of probation.

Michael Nuanes Jr. was sentenced after pleading guilty last week in Adams County to misdemeanor attempted assault. KMGH-TV in Denver reports ( ) a protection order that remains in effect for a year prohibits him from possessing firearms, and he must complete domestic-violence treatment.

Nuanes has been assigned to desk duty since his arrest after the fight in January.

His girlfriend had said Nuanes punched her and pulled her hair during the fight. Nuanes said his girlfriend hurled the Bieber doll at him and also kicked, bit and choked him.
