Family fun on the farm
Earth Mountain Education Farm hosts a summer series of “Reskilling” workshops that begin Sunday with an “Honor Your Mother Healthy Grains Baking Workshop” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants make yeast and sourdough breads, tortillas and more. A hands-on “Organic Gardening Workshop Part II” is 10 a.m. to noon May 26 as part of Earth Mountain’s Open House Weekend. And Dad is the focus of the “Father’s Day Woodsman Workshop” from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 16 where survival skills, wild plant identification and woodworking is on the schedule. The sky’s the limit
More than 40 colorful hot-air balloons will fill the sky at the 6 a.m. balloon launch at the Colorado National Golf Club as part of the 16th annual Erie Town Fair and Balloon Festival on May 19. Festivities continue downtown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with hundreds of craft and food booths, live music and entertainment, carnival games and the Garage Rats Car Show. Music and the beer garden are open until 9 p.m. and are followed by a fireworks display.

Heritage celebration
The Tesoro Foundation presents the 12th annual Indian Market & Powwow, an American Indian celebration featuring dancers, drum groups, artists, interactive exhibits, storytelling and children’s activities. The two-day festival is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 19-20. Admission is $6, $3 seniors and students with ID, free for children under 12. “South PAWcific” is the theme for tonight’s 11th annual Mutts & Models canine and celebrity fashion show. Doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the fashion show gets underway at 9:30 p.m. (VIP entrance at 6:30 p.m.) Live and silent auctions are included. Tickets range from $50 to $1,500 and proceeds benefit Harrison Memorial Animal Hospital, a program of the Colorado Veterinary Medical Foundation that provides health care for more than 4,000 disadvantaged animals.
